Alt Hotel
A permanent installation drawn from The Living Breathing Street: more than 170 Calgary street photographs in the lobby’s Altexpo mosaic and seven large prints across the hotel’s exterior.

The project
A city, accumulated.
The installation draws on years of photographing Calgary’s downtown streets. Small observations gather into a larger field: gestures, reflections, buildings, weather, people passing, and the changing texture of the city.
The lobby work follows the Altexpo concept used by Alt Hotels to connect each property to its location. In Calgary East Village, that became a mosaic of more than 170 images fromThe Living Breathing Street. Images extend from the wall across the ceiling in what the hotel identified as its first Altexpo presented in three dimensions. Seven photographs were also printed at architectural scale for the exterior.

Exterior installation
Built into the street.
Seven large photographs are installed along the outside of the hotel. Lit after dark, they can be seen from the street.
